Rumi 3

Because of a fractured leg,
God bestows a wing;
likewise from the depth of the pit,
He opens a door of escape.
God said, “Don’t consider
whether you’re up a tree or in a hole:
consider Me, for I am the Key of the Way.”*

Rumi 2

Observe the qualities of expansion
and contraction
in the fingers of your hand:
surely after the closing of the fist comes
the opening.
If the fingers were always closed or
always open,
the owner would be crippled.
Your movement is governed by these
two qualities:
they are as necessary to you
as two wings are to a bird.

Rumi 1

The world’s flattery and hypocrisy
Is a sweet morsel:
Eat less of it, for it is full of fire.
It’s fire is hidden while its taste is
manifest,
But it’s smoke becomes visible in the end.
